Cette série brosse un portrait idéalisé de l'Amérique des années 1950 et du début des années 1960. Elle met en scène la vie de l'étudiant, un peu coincé, Richie Cunningham, de sa famille, d'Arthur « Fonzie » Fonzarelli, jeune loubard au cœur tendre et de leurs amis. Véritable série culte des années 1970, elle doit son immense succès à la nostalgie d'une époque et à la variété des thèmes abordés comme l'amitié, l'amour, le courage, le sacrifice, la loyauté…

Louisa accouche inopinément et, un peu dépassés quand même par l'heureux évènement. Richie et Fonzie l'aident de leur mieux. Reconnaissante, le jeune femme demande à Fonzie d'être le parrain du bébé.
S04E06 Une dette envers Potsie 26/10/1976 Pendant l'incendie du garage, Potsie a sauvé la vie de Fonzie. Selon le code de l'honneur Fonzarelli, le héros peut exiger ce qu'il veut : Potsie demande donc à Fonzie d'être son meilleur ami. Après une semaine en compagnie du pire pot de colle de Milwaukee, Fonzie commence à s'inquiéter pour son équilibre mental.
S04E07 Richie s'émancipe 09/11/1976 Richie emprunte l'appartement de Fonzie pour épater sa nouvelle petite amie. Mais c'est le père de celle-ci, M.Kendall, qui n'en revient pas lorsqu'il les découvre dans une situation apparemment compromettante. M.Cunningham repousse les accusations portées contre son fils, un modèle d'innocence. Le fils idéal, digne de toute sa confiance, d'une droiture morale à toute épreuve. Cunningham de leur laisser le petit bureau de la quincaillerie, où ils surprennent Fonzie en compagnie d'une fille qui, très embarrassée, sort en fermant la porte. Hélas, la pièce était autrefois un coffre-fort et ne s'ouvre que de l'extérieur.
S04E14 La soirée des records 18/01/1977 Pendant que les garçons de la bande cherchent le moyen de figurer dans le Livre des Records, Fonzie se demande comment donner à son cousin la confiance en lui dont le gosse a tant besoin. Par hasard, Richie et Fonzie découvrent que le petit cousin a un jeu de mains très rapide et qu'il pourrait bien battre un des records du livre.
