Martin Riggs, flic texan et ancien de la Navy, perd sa femme et son bébé et déménage à Los Angeles pour repartir de zéro. Il devient le co-équipier du détective Roger Murtaugh, qui a récemment subi une crise cardiaque "bénigne" et doit à tout prix éviter les situations de stress.

L'univers d'origine des films est plutôt respecté, voir même légèrement approfondi notamment au niveau du passé de Riggs. Les 2 principaux protagonistes ont fort affaire pour être à la hauteur des originaux, et sans y arriver il ne se ridiculisent pas trop....
Le choix de faire tenir un film d'action dans un seul épisode est particulier, peut-être la série aurait gagné à ne faire qu'une histoire par saison et donc à donner davantage de fond.
Chaque épisode se devant donc d'être un mini film d'action, le scénario n'est pas vraiment à la hauteur... Mais s'agissant de L'Arme Fatale, cela a t'il vraiment une importance ?
