Then Lee covers a lawsuit against the EPA, because they ignored TOXIC chemicals that are widely used in agriculture, and that means, yes, our food supply. In the second half of the show, correspondent Naomi Karavani joins Lee at the desk to discuss the assault on science, the Science March and the most radical group of scientist-activists that will be at the rally. Then correspondent Natalie McGill, uncovers the forces of profit that are perpetuating the opioid overdose crisis in the United States. This and more on Redacted Tonight.
S01E145 The Lying Language Of War & Media, Snap Election, Billions From Churches 21/04/2017 In this new episode of Redacted Tonight, host Lee Camp covers the “language of war.” He delves into how the government and mainstream media outlets try to soften and normalize barbaric bombing by using manipulative words to describe it all. Lee breaks down a ridiculous CNN clip about Tomahawk missiles, which is essentially a massive, glorified advertisement for waging more war. He also shows how MSNBC and Fox News both gush over missile strikes and praise Trump for them. Next, Lee covers the snap election that Prime Minister Theresa May is calling for in the UK. The US is subjected to TWO FULL YEARS of soul-sucking media coverage of the presidential election. The question Lee asks is, “Why can’t WE have snap elections?!” Lee also gets into how churches and religious institutions of all kinds get to skip out on paying billions upon billions of dollars in taxes every year. This would possibly be somewhat understandable if they were actually using most of their money for charity, but studies show, unfortunately, they are not. In the second half of the show, correspondent Natalie McGill joins Lee at the desk to talk about how people in rural Tennessee are getting screwed over by the big telecoms. The people can potentially easily have access to way faster, municipal broadband internet, but they’re getting screwed by the power and corruption of Comcast and AT&T. Also, correspondent John F. O’Donnell files a report about how corporate media outlets, both in print and on TV, will present commentators/writers as being independent experts touting the value of war when, in reality, these people work directly for the weapons industry, personally profiting off of our bombing. All of this on the newest episode of Redacted Tonight!
S01E146 DNC Fraud Suit, Obama Shows His Corruption, Trump Still Sucks 05/05/2017 In this new Redacted Tonight, host Lee Camp covers how it should be no surprise Obama is accepting nearly half a million dollars for a speech at a Wall Street-backed conference, as his ties with big banks precede even his presidency. While people claim Obama is a hypocrite for taking the money, Obama's criticism of Wall Street has always been empty rhetoric, given not only his, but his cabinet's well-known ties to Wall Street. Then Lee updates us on the lawsuit Bernie Sanders supporters filed against the DNC for rigging the Democratic primary in 2016 for Hillary Clinton, in which the DNC's lawyers argue that Bernie supporters should have known Sanders had a zero chance of being the party's nominee as long as the DNC had their way. In the second half, correspondent Naomi Karavani joins Lee at the desk to explain how economic inequality only serves to widen the health equity gap between the rich and the poor. Finally, correspondent Natalie McGill exposes reprehensible school policies that allow school staff to "lunch shame" kids who can't afford their lunches by throwing away their hot food and branding kids who can't pay with stamps. All of this on the newest episode of Redacted Tonight!
S01E147 The Battle For The Net Is Now, New Study Shows Corruption & More 12/05/2017 In this episode of Redacted Tonight, host Lee Camp delves deep into Net Neutrality, a.k.a. the fight for a free and open internet. Lee explains all of the new pushes by the telecoms and the FCC to undermine internet freedom, one of which is them going so far as to actually call their attempts at crushing internet freedom, you guessed it - INTERNET FREEDOM. It’s Orwellian and sick. Lee goes on to shred the head of the FCC, Ajit Pai, by tearing into video footage of Pai being an absolutely ridiculous, villainous corporate tool. Lee then explains how important maintaining Net Neutrality is. He discusses how an open internet is why movements like Black Lives Matter, the Bernie Revolution and Occupy have been able to even exist. In the second half of the show, correspondent John F. O’Donnell joins Lee at the desk to talk about the insurmountable financial crisis Puerto Rico is dealing with. They’re currently crippled by $123 billion in debt. And the dirty little secret is, in large part, this is because Puerto Rico has been colonized and exploited by the U.S. for over a century. Lee and John expose the redacted reality. Finally, correspondent Naomi Karavani files a report based on a new study about how money in politics influences politicians. We all know money in politics is corrupting our system, but this study now actually has the data. It focuses on two issues: Dodd-Frank financial regulation legislation and Net Neutrality. This and more on Redacted Tonight!
S01E149 False Scarcity, Confederate Statues, Julian Assange, & Federal Urine Tests 26/05/2017 In this episode of Redacted Tonight, host Lee Camp breaks down one of the most harmful lies that is being told and retold, that of “scarcity.” In an era of abundance and technological advances, advertising and corporations help reinforce this lie which leaves millions of Americans without basic needs. What will people come up with next to justify not helping the poor, sick, and starving? Then Lee reports on the disappearance of Confederate statues in the South and why people are mourning this loss. Then, we learn Julian Assange is finally cleared of the sexual assault allegations against him, but will he be treated fairly by the US government? As much as everyone is obsessed with the glowing orb, the more important story is about the weapons deal made at the Trump-Saudi meeting. In the second half of the show, correspondent Naomi Karavani joins Lee at the desk to report on a pro-Trump conservative media company, the Sinclair Broadcasting group, which is set to become the largest owner of local news stations in the country. Finally, correspondent Natalie McGill reports on Congress’ recent decision to add hurdles in the form of drug tests to unemployment benefits. This and more on Redacted Tonight.
S01E150 Counter-Terrorism Mercenaries Used Against Standing Rock, State Dept On-Air Slip Up & more 02/06/2017 In episode 150 of Redacted Tonight, host Lee Camp delves into the recently leaked documents that reveal what really happened at Standing Rock. It turns out the Water Protectors, trying to keep their land and water safe, were subjected to counterterrorism measures by the mercenary army, TigerSwan, hired by the company building the pipeline, Energy Transfer Partners. Counterterrorism! Like they were ISIS! This is just another example of an insane corporate state violent overreach at the expense of the people and common sense. Next, Lee shows a ridiculous video of acting Assistant Secretary of State Stuart Jones. In a press briefing, Jones was asked why he criticized Iran’s record on human rights while standing right next to Saudi Arabian officials and saying nothing about them. Jones went silent for TWENTY FULL SECONDS. Lee breaks down the sad, yet hilarious, absurdity of this hypocrisy. In the second half of the show, correspondent John F. O’Donnell joins Lee at the desk to discuss the implications of US soldiers actively rejecting war. For five days surrounding Memorial Day, veterans from all over the country converged in Tennessee for the "About-Face Action Camp," which teaches veterans Nonviolent Direct Action, so they can better serve people's movements. The training was organized by “Iraq Veterans Against the War” or IVAW. They’re a grassroots peace organization made up of veterans and current servicemembers calling for, among other things, an end to our endless wars and militarism. Finally, correspondent Naomi Karavani files a report about the ACLU recommending a Texas travel ban after the state’s Governor Greg Abbott signed SB4, a new law which abolishes "sanctuary cities" and forces local law enforcement to take up ICE's role in checking citizens for immigration status OR face jail time. All of this on the new Redacted Tonight!
S01E151 The Jobs Will Be Gone Soon, Sustainable Energy & Marijuana Booming 09/06/2017 In episode of Redacted Tonight, host Lee Camp Lee Camp opens with an impending crisis robots are causing. As jobs are rapidly becoming automated, what will it mean the society of workers made of flesh and blood and not controlled by a processor? With this imminent job loss, what on earth can we do as a society to take on skyrocketing unemployment? Then Lee turns to Europe, where there’s some good news. Theresa May’s conservative party may be collapsing in Great Britain, and in Germany, citizens are getting 85 percent of their electricity from renewables like wind and solar power, a feat our nation has yet to accomplish. Then Lee covers the revived zombie of the War on Drugs. marijuana sales are enjoying a boost thanks to legalization in several states. Not only are annual legal sales near $4.5 billion, Americans are apparently purchasing marijuana more than other modes of entertainment, such as $15 movie tickets and hard liquor. In the second half of the show, correspondent Natalie McGill joins Lee at the desk to discuss the positive change to our environment and our health that electric cars can bring, but the hairbrained obstacles state governments are putting up for them. Finally, correspondent John F O’Donnell reports on how cities’ corporate spaces are being reclaimed by activist groups, by visiting The Uptown Arthouse in Washington, DC. All of this on the new Redacted Tonight!
S01E153 Amazon Is Not What It Seems, Killer Cop Gets Acquitted, DEA Disaster & more 23/06/2017 In this episode of Redacted Tonight, host Lee Camp tears Amazon and CEO Jeff Bezos a new one. He explains the true “cost of convenience” when it comes to the online retailer behemoth. Amazon is quickly taking over our lives and homes. It may sound extreme, but now with their $14 billion purchase of Whole Foods, Amazon is leaping into the “IRL” sphere. The plan is most likely to induce more people to pay to become Prime members by offering deals on food. Amazon controls a huge amount of online sales traffic and now they’re getting into the food sphere, combine that with the reality that they have a $600 million contract with the CIA and that Bezos owns the Washington Post, and it’s certainly time to push back and try to divest. Next, Lee presents a new segment called, “What You Won’t Hear.” He delves into stories the mainstream media may cover, but definitely won’t give you the full story. He talks about the police officer’s acquittal in the Philando Castile murder trial, as well as a massive carbon-sucking machine in Switzerland. In the second half of the show, correspondent John F. O’Donnell joins Lee at the desk to break down a new report by the NGO, Save the Children, entitled, “The End of Childhood Index.” The international child’s rights organization did a comparative analysis of 172 countries to determine the best and worst countries to be a child. Where the US ranks will certainly surprise you. Finally, correspondent Naomi Karavani files a scathing report about the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Naomi delves into a botched drug operation the DEA embarked upon in Mexico. They recklessly shared confidential information that led directly to a massacre. A Propublica report, which largely went under the radar, spotlights the DEA’s role. Naomi also highlights an incident with the DEA in Honduras where they misled congress and the DOJ about fatal shootings. All of this on episode #153 of Redacted Tonight!
S01E154 Healthcare Debate Fraud, White House Secrecy Beyond Belief & More 30/06/2017 In this episode of Redacted Tonight, host Lee Camp begins by dissecting America’s worst ailment: the health care debate. The debate is an illusion that diverts from the truth: single-payer is completely possible but somehow not part of this daily theater of back and forth between the GOP and the Democrats. The ACA, may seem like a step in the right direction but it’s actually serving insurance CEO’s more than the ill Americans. Letting people live shouldn’t be up for debate. What will it take to provide universal health care in the only industrialized country that doesn’t have it already? Then, Lee digs into government secrecy as the current White House delivers statements via audio via the House’s lawn shrubbery via an completely ignorant press secretary, Sean Spicer. It may seem absurd, but it’s not that hairbrained when you think about the trajectory that the executive branch has been taking in recent years under Obama to conceal government decision-making. Although Obama may have intended to be the most transparent President in history, his two terms were the most impossibly opaque to date. Next correspondent Natalie McGill covers the latest news on something that is going to affect everyone’s access information and worst, sexual pleasure: the internet may no longer be free. The anti net neutrality side has been beefing up their squad with automated bots trying to sway the FCC vote, and of course hefty donations from their corporate coffers. Finally, correspondent John F. O’Donnell covers the inauguration day (J20) demonstrator’s day in court. Mostly peaceful protesters are facing multiple felony charges, which hold draconian punishments, and up to 75 years in jail! Alongside this is a lawsuit that alleges gross police misconduct. This unconstitutional crackdown on free speech and protest is a chilling trend that is spreading all over the country. This and more on Redacted Tonight.
S01E155 New Lies For Wars, July 4th Hypocrisy, & Why History Repeats Itself 07/07/2017 In this episode of Redacted Tonight, Lee Camp explores how the mainstream media shunned any investigative reporting into the REAL reason why Trump bombed Syria. Not only did it have nothing to do with a chemical attack, but evidence suggests there wasn't a chemical attack to begin with. Yet that didn't stop the media from feeding its never ending obsession with war. Next, on the heels of our nation’s 241st birthday, Lee reminds us that those miniature American flags we wave aren’t just cheaply made symbols of patriotism. They’re actually reminders of the death of an American labor force replaced by overseas workers who are paid pittance to make them, thanks to corporations who could care less about Americans and care a lot more about deepening their already fat pockets. In the second half, Correspondent John F. O'Donnell joins Lee at the desk to discuss whether the violence wrought in the Revolutionary War was the only door open to America for gaining its independence, or if the evidence of nonviolent action that preceded battle suggests we could have achieved this much more peacefully. Finally, Correspondent Naomi Karavani exposes how Bush administration officials got a free pass for crapping over the human rights of thousands of innocent immigrants detained following 9/11. All this and more on the latest episode of Redacted Tonight.
S01E157 CNN Propaganda, Cops Are Addicts, Goldman Sachs Takes Over 21/07/2017 In this episode of Redacted Tonight, host Lee Camp talks about the police. And this isn’t your standard exploration of police brutality. Lee delves into the little known reality of just how much STEROID use there is amongst officers. The use of this drug leads to aggression, bad decision making and violence. It’s insane that police are abusing steroids. Lee explains the full-throated implications of this and more in his opening rant. Then it’s on to the 1st news segment. This week Lee goes rapid-fire through a medley of redacted stories the mainstream media won’t touch. They include Israel/Palestine, media coverage of Muslims in the US, the Obama foundation now taking millions from corporations, and Trump’s continued insanity. In the 2nd half of the show, correspondent Natalie McGill joins Lee at the desk to discuss the magical place that is Disneyland. The only problem is, it’s certainly not magical for its workers, some of which are so underpaid they’re homeless or live in their cars. The cost of living in Orange County is so high relative to the wages these employees get. It’s a shameless state of affairs. Finally, correspondent John F. O’Donnell files a potentially worldview shattering report about how CNN and a number of other media outlets, across multiple platforms, is promoting a 7 year old Syrian girl named Bana Alabed, who is now living in Syria. She’s calling for regime change is Syria by speaking broken English about the horrors of Assad. But it’s clear that she’s just phonetically reading the scripted words without even understanding them. The implications of this psy-op are both troubling and illuminating. All of this on Redacted Tonight!!
S01E160 Monsanto Truth REVEALED, Google Censorship, Trump’s Soft Coup & More 11/08/2017 In this episode of Redacted Tonight, Lee opens by revealing the government sanctioned poison pusher, Monsanto’s backdoor deals. Cancer causing pesticides like Roundup were widely used, despite science to prove otherwise, but the company made a concerted effort to get scientists, the media, and the government on their side by filling their pockets or intimidating them. Monsanto also has unholy partnerships with universities which taints scientific research even further. Then Lee covers some of the most mind-blowing headlines from the week starting with the prosecution of bankers in Vietnam while American bankers are experiencing an all-time low of fines. What’s more disturbing is that news sites that keep track of how the kleptocracy is screwing and killing us at the same time, the alternative media, are now being censored by the all-powerful Google search engine. Our toddler-in-chief gets some new babysitters in the oval office: military commanders and plans to privatize the war in Afghanistan. The opioid epidemic continues in the United States while the weak state of Afghanistan continues to supply the drug. Then, in the second half, correspondent Natalie McGill joins Lee at the desk to talk about a privately-run prison in New Mexico which powers a small town’s economy by incarcerating people. Finally, correspondent John F. O’Donnell breaks down the latest in boycott movements and anti-boycott legislation, especially anti-Israel boycotts. This and more on Redacted Tonight.
S01E161 Bringing Down the Statues, More Corporate Censorship, Bombing the Philippines 18/08/2017 In this latest episode of Redacted Tonight, Lee Camp opens with being witness to the events Charlottesville, Virginia, and his personal connection to the Commonwealth--including the statue of the Confederate general of which he shares a first name. The people who argue that removing these statues means erasing history are the same people who refuse to acknowledge how these statues reinforces racism--both overt and systemic--that is still largely felt by people of color today. Next Lee moves into this week’s headlines that may have fallen through the cracks. Lee delivers the unsurprising news that our population has already used a year's worth of the world's resources and that the only reason Trump officials are unnerved about his willingness to coddle white supremacists subverts the systemic racism government policy is built upon. Lee then tries to infuse some good news -- a Saudi royal family member wants to stop bombing Yemen. This sounds good on the surface, even if that means our mainstream media continues being willfully ignorant about the human rights crisis there our weapons helped create. Meanwhile our planet continues to boil, as July was recorded as not only hottest since 2016, but the hottest month on record. In the second half, correspondent John F. O’Donnell joins Lee at the desk to discuss Google-owned YouTube’s role in censoring the left AND the right by taking away ad revenue from videos they classify as too controversial a.k.a. any opinion that doesn't have corporate influence. Finally, correspondent Naomi Karavani shows how our United States military seems to have a case of amnesia when it comes to bombing countries. Military leaders are mulling over whether or not to rain bombs on the Philippines to drive out militant forces, despite the fact already have twice in the span of a decade. And with a brutal, power-hungry dictator like Rodrigo Duterte at that country’s helm, the Trump administration officials are all but too happy to hav
S01E162 Russian Hacking Narrative Debunked, CIA Torture Settlement, Burger King Arming Amputees 25/08/2017 Last year WikiLeaks showed Clinton’s campaign to be laughably corrupt, and suggested that the “D” in “DNC” was perhaps inserted ironically. The media promptly began focusing on the source of this information by equating WikiLeaks with “Russian hackers,” instead of analyzing the proven corruption and its implications. A group founded in 2003 to question the WMD narrative from which our consent was manufactured to attack Iraq, has re-emerged to question the Russian hacking narrative politicians and media pundits have hammered into our brains since the election. Hard science from these forensic investigators and intelligence analysts now demonstrates the Podesta emails came from a leak, not a hack. Corporate media, unsurprisingly, won’t touch this story, as it would indict them to a devastating degree. The most nefarious things about endless media repetition of the Russian hacking narrative is that it’s been sold to us as an “attack” and an “an act of war,” and that Democratic politicians don’t have to reflect on the neoliberal economic policies that caused so many to vote for Trump in the (false) hope that he’d represent a change. In sum, the military industrial complex wins, and the Democratic establishment successfully avoids all scrutiny of neglecting the people it claims to represent. Psychologists behind the CIA’s “enhanced interrogation” program have settled out of their court case with three torture victims defended by the ACLU. These “architects” were paid 81 million dollars for their techniques, yet this torture was largely ineffective. And the settlement is unsurprising, because if this went to court it would be overwhelmingly bad PR for the CIA. After discounting their heart-stopping Stacker Burger for one day, Burger King gave 50% of that day’s profits to a startup making 3D prosthetic arms. Burger King Argentina has been airing a commercial showing that you It’s ironic because fast food increases the chance of amputations.
S01E163 Democratic Party is a Joke, Harvey was Predicted, Trump Hates Science 01/09/2017 The dismissal of the DNC Fraud Lawsuit case solidifies what we already had a feeling was true: the Democratic party feels no obligation to the people it claims to represent. This is important because it doesn’t only apply to the 2016 election, but all elections going forward. If someone defrauds you and has 0 repercussions, there’s a 100% chance they’ll defraud you again. No matter who is president, we will always the normalization of endless war. There’s even a military “adventure” camp in Kentucky for tweens whose parents want them to have a taste of military life. Normalizing violence and militarism for kids in a country where 90% of our drone killings hit unintended targets and nearly 30k vets are homeless is shameful. Politicians say we should let the ‘free market’ help victims of the hurricane (Obviously the Fed govt should only be spending money on wars and the subsidization of big banks and the oil industry), but it’s the private sector that enabled the destruction of Houston. When ProPublica did a reported on how the city is not prepared for hurricanes last year, it had no effect on public policy. Local officials even snubbed building regulations to pave over prairie land that would have soaked up large amounts of water.
S01E164 War with Iran, War with North Korea, FBI Creating Terrorists 08/09/2017 In order to justify the police becoming an extension of the military, Americans must be VERY AFRAID. Thankfully, the FBI creates terror threats, then takes credit for stopping them. Naomi Karavani joins Lee Camp at the desk to discuss. Eliminating rules that maintain net neutrality will be devastating for entrepreneurs who need web traffic and can't pay ISPs for faster loading speeds. Natalie McGill shows how small business don't have to lay down without a fight.
S01E165 Unlimited War Powers, Climate Catastrophe, Worker Deaths Hidden 15/09/2017 Lee Camp opens the show by talking about how corporate media refuses to acknowledge climate change’s role in increasing the severity of natural disasters. This is because our co-called news networks are largely funded by those who profit from the extraction of fossil fuels, whether it’s at home or abroad. Lee then shows how despite pandering rhetoric about how unfit Trump is, most of Congress voted to kill Rand Paul’s amendment that would end the unchecked war powers of the Executive Branch. Then, Natalie McGill joins Lee at the desk to discuss how the Occupational Safety Health Administration, the Federal government’s bid to ensure a safe and healthy workplace, recently removed its running list of US work related deaths from the front page of its website. This is indicative of a larger ongoing disappearance of worker protections and increasingly weaker unions. Finally, Naomi Karavani reports on how wealthy white communities are moving to resegregate public schools across the country.
S01E166 Whitewashing NFL Protests, Tax Code Robbery, Chicago v. Philly 29/09/2017 Lee Camp explains why the fact that even wealthy professional athletes are waking up to our corrupt + racist political system can’t be dismissed as hatred of President Trump. Lack of accountability in policing and the prison industry are systems of oppression that are upheld by the entire political establishment, including those funding the media. Lee also explains how the impending tax reform policy will be yet another massive transfer of wealth to the wealthy elite. This could not come at a worse time, since it is ultimately economic inequality that gives rise to social inequality. Naomi Karavani joins Lee at the desk to discuss Philadelphia's success at decreasing their incarcerated population. Then Natalie McGill shows how Chicago is planning on spending millions to make law enforcement even less community based than before.
S01E167 Puerto Rico, Monsanto Banned, Fracking Banned, Wall Street Unleashed 06/10/2017 Even before #HurricaneMaria, #PuertoRico was home to a severe economic + humanitarian crisis. While it's crucial to help the island recover from the devastation of this hurricane, we absolutely must also use this opportunity to call attention to the ongoing colonization, oppression + exploitation of the Puerto Rican people by the US government and Wall Street. Speaking of Wall Street, the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, which is supposed to supervise the financial markets, just announced a change in policy to rely less on supervising the industry directly. Instead it will rely more on banks self-reporting their own crimes, which sounds like a foolproof plan. Lee Camp breaks this down. Then, Natalie McGill joins Lee at the desk to discuss how Congress doesn’t think twice about war money, yet may end a program that ensures medical care for poor children. Then Naomi Karavani reports on a Supreme Court case that may end collective bargaining through for workers against their employers.
