This island is covered in reclaimed Chicago Common brick veneer and topped with concrete countertops that include a bar top for entertaining. The surrounding yard is also transformed with a cedar deck remodel, privacy plantings and a bluestone and gravel patio.
S04E02 Cobble Driveway Patio 00/00/0000 Yard Crashers is taking it on the road and crashing Chicago. Host and licensed landscape contractor Ahmed Hassan finds homeowners with a giant backyard of grass, a cracked driveway and decrepit screened in porch that he's ready to transform. In just two days, the backyard is torn down and built back up with a giant antique cobble driveway patio that leads to a revived screened in porch complete with indestructible screens and one giant remote control screen the opens up into the backyard. Plus, they introduce an old piece for a new fire pit by using an antique sugar kettle shipped in from Louisiana. They build up beautiful stone around the sugar kettle and it's ready for the fire. A brand new barbeque, new grass and two truckloads of plants make this yard complete.
S04E03 A River Runs Through It 00/00/0000 This crash muscles its way through the storm of the century to turn a neglected backyard with an abandoned water feature into a rustic mountain retreat for this outdoor loving couple. Ahmed and crew take the best parts of the homeowners' "river in progress" and transform it into a giant waterfall spilling into a running-water river bed winding around the yard and emptying into a new fire feature. Next, efforts are turned toward rehab'ing an existing patio by adding flagstone to increase the "hang out" space. This crash goes above and beyond with a modern splash pad for both kids and adults. Plus, Ahmed surprises these homeowners with a fully loaded outdoor kitchen, complete with a grill, blender, refrigerator and topped off with concrete countertops and unique tile. And in Las Vegas, you gotta have shade, so they bring in a one-of-a-kind cluster umbrella feature to keep this yard cool!
S06E01 Rose Parade 00/00/0000 The Rose Queen herself delivers the plans that transform a boring, neglected Pasadena backyard into a space fit for royalty. The lower portion of the exsisting patio is stained. The homeowners then step up onto a new, 500 square foot deck that leads to a custom built steal and wood pergola. Below, a custom poured cement fire pit and benches provide a separate place to relax. Behind the pergola, gabion walls, hand built with 5 tons of river rock, take the place of a typical retaining wall. And in a nod to the Rose Parade, it's all topped off with lush landscaping, blooming roses, topiaries, a living portrait and DIY float- inspired yard art.
S06E02 Artistic Retreat 00/00/0000 Ahmed and his crew are turning a small, boring yard into an artistic retreat for a Sacramento couple. First, a redwood deck expands the entertaining space, wrapping around from the sliding-glass back door out to an extended roof covering. Then, the team constructs an LED-lit cinder-block seating area in front of a custom-built water wall. And how does Ahmed top off this crash? With a gigantic orange tree lit from below and throughout with LED lights.
S06E03 Creek Bed Party Deck 00/00/0000 A newly engaged couple with a boring, uninviting backyard sees their space transformed into a party place for friends and family. In one corner, dead lawn bordered by a dilapidated retaining wall becomes an entertainment zone, and a PVC deck ringed by new retaining-wall benches overlooks a natural-looking dry creek bed. The opposite corner, with a too-small patio pad and crumbling fence, gets a stamped concrete pad that features a large BBQ grill island and travertine-style counters. The final touch? A remote-control awning.

Mexico is brought to their backyard with the addition of a large concrete patio stamped to look like Mexican tile, a water feature with a Mexican clay pot and a fire pit lined with Mexican saltillo tiles. The old unsightly wooden deck gets a bright terracotta makeover and a wooden arch is painted to frame a new garden area and create the feel of a Mexican Resort Retreat right in the backyard.

S07E11 Hillside Terrace 11/07/2012 This first-time homeowner wants an entertainment space out of her existing bare hillside. What she gets is three 3 terraces cut into the hillside. Level one is off the master bedroom, accessed via a new glass door to take in the view and features "T" arbors framing the view of her new space. All three levels are connected by new decorative concrete steps. Level two features a hot tub and custom fire feature. Level three features a massive, ancient olive tree. The three terraces are ringed with retaining wall seating for 40! The new space is also warmed up with additional plantings of Redwood trees, Japanese Maples, and a Willow tree.
S07E12 Italian Villa Vista 21/05/2012 A boring backyard is transformed from a non-usable space to a little piece of the Italian countryside with various areas to both entertain and to relax. The creation of a large elevated patio covered in pavers and an outdoor fireplace create a lounging area that provides a view reminiscent of the Italian countryside. The addition of large raised garden boxes and a multi-tiered fountain and benches create a strolling garden. With posts and wire framing a grapevine planting, a new stain on the existing patio and a handmade rustic wooden dining table, the yard becomes the perfect piece of Italy to use for entertaining.

Taking a cue from the homeowner's eclectic style, Matt replaces a patchy lawn, rickety shade structure, and crumbling concrete pond with a system of curved floating redwood decks. Together, Matt and the homeowners build a new gate with "windows" that give the fence line a sleek, modern look. They pour a concrete garden wall that is treated to make it look like wood. A pergola with privacy screens creates a new area for seating. An old shed gets a facelift. A paver patio is laid and a steel shade structure is added which provides a dining space complete with new barbecue. Gabions stacked with stone provide a unique retaining wall which includes a cantilevered wooden bench surrounded by lush plants. A fire feature is added along with a gabion water feature surrounded by synthetic turf to complete the modern lines of this makeover.
S10E07 Party Pavilion 22/07/2013 This family wants a back yard that can host parties for their 5 kids. Matt doesn't disappoint when he transforms the boring yard into party central with the addition of a wood & metal dining pavilion with a unique storage wall, a sheer decent water feature and stucco fire pit. In addition, a privacy fence is added which includes a chalkboard and creative seating for the kids. Finally, a new grill, sod and plants are added to give this family the entertaining space of their dreams.

After removing everything from the yard, a large concrete patio is poured and scored into squares with alternating stain color. A large wood grid incorporated with colorful tiles is built to support a water feature, while the wood from the old deck is upcycled into planter boxes. Finally, a large two tier bar is added, and synthetic lawn is installed for the dining area.
